The days on the mountain
There are no prepared ski trails to cover here. The snowmobile track is the way through, and late in winter the crust carries you freely across open terrain. The days are not about performing, but about being on the mountain – head out, turn back when you like, come in to the warmth again.

Ice fishing on Finnefjorden
Finnefjorden, the arm of Fullsenn nearest the cabin, offers very good ice fishing. A rod-fishing licence is bought on inatur.no and covers up to two jigging rods, all year on the lakes. Young people fish for free up to and including the year they turn twenty. With the water a short way off, an hour on the ice becomes something you simply do, not something you plan.

The cabin in winter
The cabin is off-grid: solar power and no running water. The main cabin is heated by a large wood stove and the big natural-stone fireplace, and on the stove sits a kettle that heats water and melts snow for washing water. Arnebergbua has its own wood stove. Bed linen and towels are laid out; you make up the beds yourself. For shorter stays you can bring drinking water with the luggage transport; for longer stays we recommend boring a hole to fetch water. The tun sleeps six, exclusively for one group – two bedrooms with a family bunk in the main cabin, and the bua as a third sleeping unit inside the fence. The bua can be used in winter too; sometimes you will need to shovel a little in front of the door first. Outside it is white and still, unless the ptarmigan is calling. Inside it is warm.

How do I get to the cabin in winter?
Ploughing ends at Skatterudstølen; from there it is eleven kilometres in on a snowmobile track. You choose transport by snowmobile, booked with the licensed driver a few days ahead, or ski in on the prepared track.
Are there prepared ski trails?
